Unplug it
Unplug electronics, battery chargers and other equipment when not in use. Taken together, these small items can use as much power as your refrigerator. Leaving your TV or computer on standby can use as much electricity as it does when it's switched on. When not in use remember always to turn it off and unplug it! |

Adjust the Thermostat
Setting your air conditioner 5° higher will save up to 20% on cooling costs. You'll hardly know the difference, but it will make a difference to your consumption. Remember always to turn it off when you leave your home. |

Turn down the water heater
Water heating accounts for about 13% of home energy costs. Get into the habit of turning the water heater down when not in use. Most heaters only take 15 minutes to heat enough water for a single shower. |

Fill up the dishes and clothes
Run your dishwasher and clothes washer only when fully loaded. Fewer loads reduce energy and water use. To save energy run the washing machine at 32° C and you will get the same cleaning results of hot water. |

Manage the Fridge & Freezer
DON'T leave the refrigerator door open. Every time you open the Fridge door, up to one-third of the cold air can escape. Freezers run efficiently with regular defrosting. |
