Operations

The Company produces mainly from five oil fields: - Asab, Bab, Bu Hasa, Sahil and Shah. These fields are linked by more than four hundred and fifty kilometers of pipeline, with storage and shipping facilities at Jebel Dhanna, where tankers load crude oil for markets in many parts of the world. A sixth field, Jarn Yaphour, situated some fifty kilometers east of the capital, came on stream late in 1993 and its production is transported to Umm Al-Nar Refinery for treatment. An early production system for the other North East fields: Rumaitha, Shanayel and Dabbi’ya was commissioned during 1994. In Asab, Bab, Bu Hasa and Sahil, water injection is used to maintain reservoir pressure and optimize oil recovery. Gas injection system is used in Bab & Bu Hasa fields. Full Bab field oil development project was completed in 1993 and that of Sahil field during 1998.

The 1998 exploration programme continued to place emphasis on evaluation of hydrocarbon potential of frontier areas, delineation of the proven discoveries and assessing the potential of deep reservoirs.

During 1998, ADCO increased operating land rigs to twelve, owned by the National Drilling Company. These were engaged in exploration and development drilling and in workover operations.

In 1999, the Asab Gas Gathering & Injection Project encompassed many other related activities with it, such as the Asab Infrastructure Facilities, Additional Power Generation & Transmission. These elements have demonstrated ADNOC Group of Companies on the sharing of services.
During 2000, three projects comprising Upgrading of Asab and Jebel Dhanna Office / Accommodation, Two New Asab Frame-6 Generators and Shah Infill Wells were completed.

In 2001, Refurbishment of Old Office Building in Abu Dhabi and Jebel Dhanna Infrastructure Upgrade projects were completed.
The year 2002 saw the completion of five projects including Asab Zone A/B Pilot Gas Injection, Bab New Additional Manifold, Bab Infrastructure Upgrade, Bu Hasa Two Additional Manifolds and Huwaila Multiphase Pump Installation.

During 2003, the following projects were completed: New RDS Manifolds (Asab), Vapour Recovery and Minimised Flaring (Asab/Sahil), Water Injection Enhancement (Sahil), Vapour Recovery and Zero Flaring Pilot (Bab), Water Injection Power Skid Replacement (Bu Hasa) and FEED for Onshore Power Generation Integration (Fields General).

During the year 2004, the Highest annual oil production ever (averaged over 1200 Mbd) while honoring highest oil industry guidelines. Drilling activities witnessed considerable achievements: highest annual footage drilled (1.55 million feet & highest number of wells completed (179 wells) ever and best annual safety/environmental achievements. Completed six full field development subsurface models.

During the year 2005, Highest annual oil production ever (around 1235 Mbd) while honoring highest oil industry guidelines. Drilling activities witnessed considerable achievements: highest annual footage drilled (1.58 million feet), and highest number of wells completed (180 wells) with lowest lost time injuries. Commissioned Bab facilities expansion and North East Bab accommodation. Best annual Contract performance since inception in 2001, including annual LTIF rate of 0.16.
