3D Visualization & Seismic Imaging

ADCO has become one of the first companies in the region to make use of the visual reality facility

Visualization Technology

Visualization technology is a tool employed to assemble different technical disciplines to create a combined product that is greater than the sum of its parts. This cutting edge technology is no longer a dream in the U.A.E.

ADCO has become one of the first companies in the region to make use of the visual reality facility. Visualization centers are currently aiding developments in many industries, including the petroleum industry in which about 50 facilities exist worldwide.

Visualization centers are used to develop a common understanding of highly intricate issues by bringing people together to visualize in three-dimensional space. In 3D, one can better understand complex sub-surface geological structures, view fluid movement pathways in hydrocarbon bearing reservoirs, optimize placement of well-bores and visualize surface facility design implications. This leads to a faster and more optimized decision-making process that could save ADCO millions of dollars. The theater can also be used in 2D mode for enhanced presentations and virtual travel through surface features.

ADCO's facility has been named "The Majlis" which when translated into Arabic means "Meeting Place".

The Majlis

The Majllis is a comfortably furnished room that can seat up to 25 people. The viewing equipment consists of three large color projectors the simultaneously project onto a large curved screen (7 meters wide by 2.4 meters high). This is complemented by a surround sound music system. A powerful Silicon Graphics computer controls the projectors that have the ability to project stereo images. Viewing glasses containing a receiver and processor are worn to create the 3D images. All current computer applications can be projected onto the large screen, including DVD and video presentations.

The Majlis is used for teamwork sessions of any kind. It facilitates communication between team members with diverse backgrounds and understandings. The session types can be for conceptual brainstorming, for final decision making, or purely for working sessions. It is particularly useful in quality control of products where many sets of eyes can catch errors that a single set would not.
